Studbook – this is an official record of the pedigree of pure and in some cases, part bred animals, particularly equines which is usually published by a Breed Society or similar regulating organization.

Breed Society – is an association or club that promotes, preserves, and improves a particular breed. They define the breed standard and record pedigrees. The purposes of the association varies depending on the goals and needs of members and any legislative requirements.
