When the horse is safe and secure you can check for a microchip if you have an RFID scanner, alternatively a vet, local welfare agent, or police officer can scan the horse to see if is microchipped. The microchip details can be checked on the National Chipchecker to see if it is registered in the Central Equine Database.

If the microchip number is recorded Equine Register should be contacted to assist in contacting the registered owner.
