The UELN is comparable to your social insurance number, meaning it is your horse’s unique number for life. UELN’s are mandatory in some countries but not in Canada.
It is important to add all of your horse identification information to the CED to ensure there are multiple ways to ID your horse for the entirety of its life.
The National Chipchecker searches the records from the Digital Stable stored and the Canadian Equine Database (CED). There are two reasons why a result cannot be found if you have a UELN and have entered this;
1) The UELN number you have entered incorrectly. Or,
2) The equines details are not recorded on the Digital Stable and CED.
What to do next:
Check the UELN number and re-enter on the National Chipchecker. If a result cannot be found and you know that you have registered your equine on the Digital Stable you should contact Equine Register.
